Conquest of England by William the Conqueror (Work on Bayeux’ tapestry)
COMPLETE PRESENTATION OF THE REALIZATION
The Mathilde’s queen’s tapestry represents the theme of the conquest of England by William the Conqueror and the Normans in 1066. This work is a contemporary rewriting of this theme.
The creation includes two principle parts
A pictorial space represented by three canvas of 19 meters length, each creating an open square.
A sculptural space that will be standing in the middle of the open square.
Presentation of the pictorial space
The pictorial part is represented by three panels:
The center panel is displayed in the middle wall.
The
two side panels are therefore displayed on the two side walls.
The center panel is represented by 13 canvas (2 meters x 1 meter) realized by collage.
These 13 canvas will be represented
alternatively, vertically or horizontally which will make an about 19 meters
long canvas.
The Two Side Canvas
The two side panels are made of 2 canvas of 19 meters long
by 2 meters high. On these panels 13 monotypes are glued in the same way as
the center panel and in the same order.
Red acrylic as medium
for the right panel. Black acrylic as medium
for the left panel.
The empty spaces left on the panel above and below the
horizontal monotypes have been used for graffiti, drawings and notes.
Side Panels


Presentation of the sculptural space
The skeleton of a boat is been displayed in the center of the pictorial space. This one will be made of fabric bands hung on the presentation site.
